Default Engine Options

Well First let me say HELLO been learning tricks of these fun cars on here for several months.I'm not new to the Corvette scene at all but needing some info.I just bought a 90 Coupe (Red/Red) Auto with 100k on it . This car was maintained very well had Mobil 1 changed every 5k and has no no major problems its whole life, but I've put only 2k on it and there is a horrible noise coming from the bottom end .I haven't checked it out like I need to but from being around these cars for years I'm almost sure its gonna be new engine time for me ...Heres my question ..I want a engine that is stout but not a PITA to install ..I did a 454 in a 86 and DO NOT want to go through anything remotly close to that . What are my options on a Semi Easy Install and good engine that I'm not gonna have to sell body parts for .Also Where have you guys been buying these engines ?

Thanks for any info

Default Re: Engine Options (JOliver)

I would rebuilt the current: stroke it (383ci) or put in a 400sbc (same motor mounts and fit, but you can stroke THAT to a 427?), and then heads, cam, headers, etc. However much you want to put into it. However, if you go with displacement or want to make any obscene amount of power, plan on upgrading the intake (Superrams are nice :yesnod: ) and getting a custom chip tuned.

Heck, that's pretty much the status quo around here.
