Re: Will an LT1 run w/o coolant?? (BrianCunningham)
did you have your iac unplugged. if so double check. the iac and the opti have plugs that will interchange. but wire colors will be different. i found out the hard way, lost two hours taking things apart .

Re: Will an LT1 run w/o coolant?? (Goody)
Thanks for the tip, but I never unplugged the IAC
Checked for spark, nada
It's getting fuel, I can smell it.
I've got one fuse blown, it for the cigarette lighter. Someone, not me, had put a 25A fuse in the 15A socket :mad
The socket is next to the ones for the computer
BTW the owner's manual says there is a Low Coolant light, but I have never seen it come on, even thought I've tried starting it with no coolant at all in it. Can't even tell you where it is, not exactly a great picture.
I've ordered a scanner, I'll see what it says when it get here.

[history]
I checked to see if the injectors were firing with a tool, yes
I checked for spark at the coil with a tool I got, yes.
Rechecked for spark at the plugs, where a neighbor helped me out.

My AutoXray came today
Great tool, $100 cheaper than what I've been looking at.
It showed no codes, stored or otherwise.
I cycled through all the sensors, everything seemed on the ball.
Tore it all down, a lot faster after you've done it once.
Sure enough to rotor was off!
So much for "it only goes on one way"
BTW it fired up w/o the MAF, airtemp sensor, water temp sensor, the waterpump or coolant. I only ran it for 10 seconds.
So much for my "low coolant light"
It's all bolted back up.
I'll wire up the eletric waterpump tomorrow.
