I have been runnig JBA's shorty for abour 2 yrs. now. Ceramic coated is the only way to go due to fuel line issues. I can't tell you if they are better than Hookers, but I can say that JBA's are expensive. Anyway, I like them, they change the sound of the exhaust and look good. As far as getting any more horses out of them, I kinda doubt it. IMHO.
The JBA's are 1 5/8's as where Hooker shorties are 1 3/4's. Hooker should give more performance. I have Hookers and was curious is it hard to change plugs or install wires on the JBA's with the way the tubing is arranged?
Changing plugs is easier than with the stock manifolds. # 7 & * I found it easy from underneath the car. The problem is the OEM length wires from the opti. There isn't a after market wire loom that fit the headers, so you have to be creative. If you are running after market wires, then you can cut them to any length you need.
To say one is better than the other is pointless. It's like spark plug wires; Taylors or MSDs, both are great. I have Hookers because of the deal Jet Hot has. You get Hooker Shorties and their Sterling coating for less than the Name Brand Corvette Catalogs. One thing is for sure, which ever one you buy make sure you have them ceramic coated or you'll be replacing them in a few years, plus they won't look bad. As far as performance gains, my seat of the pants dyno registered very little gain, but they look much better and reduced the heat in the engine compartment. :yesnod: And I still have my cats.
