Need procedure for replacing shocks on my 89.
Does anyone have a good procedure or any tips on replacing the shocks on an 89? Looks like I'm going with the Blistein- Z51. Is this something that is easy to do? I've done it on other cars, just a little light experience with C4.
Thanks in advance,
Christ
When you take out the old rear shock, jack up the bottom of the shock to let the weight off else you might mess up the threads on the top bolt. Same for installing to help get the top bolt in.
Make sure you have a large enough end wrench for holding the lower rear shock mounting stud while you tighten the nut.
On the front, you might need a specialty socket for the top shock stud. Also check to make sure you can get that socket on it and keep the stud from turning while you remove the nut.
I thought i read something that said you might need to compress the front shocks a little to get them in, might be good to have a extra hand during the front install.
Good luck
