Default Need help tonight on 89 headlamp bushing replacement.

I have the entire headlamp assemblies off. I see and have removed the torx screws. Do I have to take that roll pin out the goes through the axle of the gear assy? I'm at a lose what to do next. Do I have to take the entire assembly apart?

Hope thes pics help. It took me about 3 hours to do the first headlight and about 45 minutes to do the second. Yes I do recall taking a roll pin out.

I have the drivers one repaired. The bushings were nothing more than dust. The passenger side assembly is going to be tough because I can see one torx screw that a bracket is in the way, but I'll figure it out. I have all these parts laying on the living room floor so the work conditions are darn good. (Yes, I'm single.)

Yes you need to use a drift to remove the pin so you can remove the side of the housing to expose the large nylon gear, shown in Chuck's pic above.

just for knowledge ...there were never bushings in those gears...that dust that everybody refers to as the bushings is dried up gel.. they used gel in the headlight motors..as time went by it dries up and then turns from a real thick and viscous gel to a dried out powder.... the bushing idea is an aftermarket one ...which is great good luck on the other side..
