If you are referring to the Ram Jet 350, the height from the flat part of the block (China wall) to the top of the air plenum is 9.5". The top of the plenum is parallel to the block.
The 502 version of the Ram Jet is about 11.5". I have the exact measurement somewhere. If that is the one you need, let me know.
Ram Jet 350 is what I need! So isn't the TPI like 9"? I may be on to something here!! Anybody know exactly how much clearance is required to fit under the hood? Trying to see if this will work.
A quick way to measure is to place the vehicle on a relatively level concrete floor then, with the hood closed, use something like a carpenter's roll up tape and measure from the floor to the bottom of the hood near the front of the block (if you can find a space up through all the accessories and hoses). Then open the hood and measure from the flat part of the block to the floor. If you have at least 9.5", the Ram Jet 350 should fit. Might do well to add an extra 1/4" or so for any movement just to be on the safe side.
I guess you know that the Ram Jets are not "legal" for use in vehicles that are required to pass an emissions test (anything later than a '74 model in NC). Also the Ram Jets are not user programmable like the LS1.
