Ok, the 4 bolts are out, and the trans is supported. How do squeeze the support beam out? It's loose, but it doesn't want to fit out. Do I need to remove the rear?

Re: C Beam removal (POLOVETTE 94)
Lay under the car sideways with your feet towards the passenger side...
Then push the C-beam forward and slide it to the left as much as possible. Try and pull the tranny towards you with one hand and jam the c beam behind it with the other hand. It needs to be slid as far to the left as possible because other wise you can't flex it on the rear diff. Once you get it between the trans and the tunnel wall, then you can pry it downwards and to the left. It'll still be hung up on the third member at this point, until you can get the front end of it down enough to work it towards the front of the car.
(All directional reference are from your POV, not the car's)
Does that make sense? Also, I assume you've already removed the driveshaft right?
After you've wrestled it in and out a few times you'll get the hang of it. :yesnod:
It's been awhile since I did this, but if I remember correctly, the best way to take it off is to unbolt the c-beam, set it over to the side, then remove the driveshaft, and then remove the c-beam. To install it, put the c-beam in unbolted and over out of the way, then install the driveshaft and then bolt up the c-beam.

:iagree: Been a couple years for me as well, but that sounds correct.
