Default 52mm TB flow well enough?

After my 383 is built I want to put a superram setup on it, buut it looks like that will have to wait for a little while. So will a 52 mm TB flow well enough for my 383? It should make about 425 -475 hp.

According to forum members here the 52 will be just fine. They say it is too big for 350.

It will flow enough for it, you probably wont need the 58.

The 52 was a great mod for my mostly stock motor, combined wiht the headers air get's in and out much faster.

I would think a 58mm may benefit modified LT1s. I dont know why there is so much doubt on the forum about running the 52 mm in a stock LT1. It was like night and day when I swapped out the stock 48mm. I also recommend either the Granetteli MAF sensor or the clear housing ends. I also passed the TX sniff test with this set-up!!! not to hi-jack this post. but if you are going to buy a new TB, wouldn't it be worth it to pay a little more for the 58mm for future mods? or is there no mod that would really rquire it (for a L98)?

Depends on the future mods, if its just a SR & 383, I dont think he'll need it.
The 52 should provide something like 700-800cfm, and the MAF with screens/fins removed flows 750cfm. So his restriction would be the MAF if he really needed more air. You have to be putting out a hell of a lot of power to use all of 750cfm.

The only way i see you could use the 58's 1000cfm flow is if you had a 400+ci small block or a big block with the right big cam and heads, then probably a Speed-Density switch.

:iagree: AS&M makes a 54 if you think the 58 is too big. I think we got off his original question. Again I say yes the 52 tb you already have should be fine for now until you buy a new larger one.
