On an unfamiliar street tonite, with brakes applied, hit some deep truck ruts going about 15-20 mph. the ABS lite came on and the brake pedal got hard to push. Lasted for only a second or 2, but if it was an emergency stop, I wouldn't have. I have noticed the ABS light before going over bumps in the road, but not the hard pedal. Any ideas?
TIA

The light and pedal suggest the ABS went active. Meaning, it started regulating caliper pressure. When this occurs, brake fluid is pumped back into the reservoir and this pumping action will cause stiff pedal feedback. Some racers call this "Banging the ABS".
Not to worry.
Just out of curiosity, this may be covered in the owners manual. I have seen this detailed in service bulletins but not sure about the manual.
Thanks - will try to read up on it. It's about time to replace all the brake fluid, pads and rotor soon. I have questions re: rotors but will put in another post.
Thanks again
