I am new to this forum, but I have owned my 1985 Vette 4+3 for three years.
Yesterday, the dash completely blew - dark nothing (I have been having thre problem with the high beams and signal lighting up for two years - I have never fixed it).
The Check Engine light came on thereafter. When I checked the codes this morning, I got 21 (TPS) and 24 (VSS).
Is this connected to the LCD dash blowing (PS - there is a short somewhere because the fuse blew and when I put any fuse in it blew right away).
Any help that you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
I was just discussing this problem with a friend of mine at work. Coincidentally he has an almost identical problem. We've talked this problem through ad nauseum and have narrowed the problem to a short. Did you get shocked when the fuse blew? My friend did.
My friend decided to replace the whole dash with a used one he bought off of ebay for very little money. You should look on ebay. I've found ebay very helpful in solving many an issue I've run across.
The signal and high beam indicators usually go haywire when the grounds are bad in the dash. There is an excellent writeup . it is on batee.com http://www.batee.com/corvette/dcrg/index.shtml

The 24 is connected. The Vehicle Speed Sensor feeds the cluster that then feeds the ECM. The ECM is not receiving speed info from the cluster and sets the 24. The 21 is most likely unrelated.
I did get a nice shock when I went to replace the fuse!!! Who knew that the LCD fuse is hot at all times?
My view is that the power supply on the unit is bad and I don't think I have the skills necessary to fix it.
Anyone ever use the gentlemen out in Bloomington http://www.corvettedashclusterservice.com/index.html to repair a display. He quoted me $195 to rebuild my unit (with an additional $150 for any displays that need to be replaced). He claims he can turn it around in two or three days time.
