I purchased a Corvette in Bowling Green. I live in the St. Louis area and am wanting to get the Corvette to my residence without having to drive it. Any suggestions. The Corvette is in perfect condition; consequently, I want to protect the Corvette as much as possible. I do want to transport the Corvette myself.
Sorry about posting in the Tech/Performance Forum, but I thought I was in the General Discussion Forum and now I can not figure out how to move it to that Forum. If anyone could help with moving to the right forum, it would be appreciate.
Give 10 bucks to a highschool kid and a bus ticket down...He will drive it back for you :jester
In all seriousness, I would just drive it. But if your adiment on getting it back U-haul (which I wouldn't trust) or maybe a professional car hauling service, but at that rate you would probably be cheaper to buy a trailer for 1500 dollars and then sell it.
Best bet, just take a nice cruise in it and you will be home in no time.

Re: Transporting a Corvette (Terry King)
I flew down to Houston in March and drove mine the 1300 miles back to Michigan. I had a blast and really bonded with her. Bring your cell phone, good maps, and your credit card. Take pictures along the way, smile, and don't forget to wave! :seeya
So far, I have made the trip from South Georgia to Ontario a half dozen times. 3 non stop trips since April this year. 16-19 hours and 935 miles straight is some kinda bonding time. I love the drive, so I would go for it.
Last year, I trailered her behind my 90 F150 on a rented uhaul car carrier and no problems at all. I think the uhaul car carrier is excellent.
I would highly advise you to use InterCity lines if you wanted to have it transported professionally. They are a class operation all the way. I had my ZR-1 transported from the Boston area all the way cross-country back to the San Francisco area and they did a hell of a job. Remember one thing, you get what you pay for.
Fly into Owensboro and I'll drive you to Bowling Green to get the car if you want. I know for a fact there is a morning flight from St. Louis every morning. Drive the car home, it will give you some bonding time before all your friends want to go for a ride. I'm serious about the offer, just let me know. :seeya

Well, I just did this 2 weeks ago.... :-) The U-Haul car hauler works great if you need a trailer. I just went from Cleveland to Charlotte with no problems.
Also, use the search feature of this website and search for posts from my user name. You'll find a post about professional transporters that some of the members recommended to me.
BUT, I'm with the other guys here... Drive it back. It bothered me to see my car on a trailer In my case, the car did not run, but if it did, it would bother me not to drive it.
I gotta recomend driving it...Bought my 92 in ft lauderdale and drove it home to cincinnati last october. Had a blast, by the time I got back all the "nervousness" of a new (to me) car had wore off..but none of the excitement. I've put 8000 miles on since then. You bought it now drive man, drive. :auto: :chevy
