Okay, need to replace the rear pads on my 85. On one did the metal backing seperated from the pad!
I never have messed with the brakes before. Looking in my Haynes manual it says the bolt holding the caliper is self-locking and needs to be replaced on reinstall. Is this true? If so does anybody know the specs on that bolt so I could get replacements before I switch pads?
I know you need them now. But why don't you go for the info on VBP (vette brakes & products). http://www.VBandP.com
This catalog is free and gives so much info, it will surprise you.
If you can wait, order the catalog. Or go to the web site.

Usually the "self locking" bolt is nothing more than some Lock Tight on the threads. You can buy new ones from Chevy @ about $5. per bolt or put some of the stuff on the old bolts and reuse them.
