My headlights work fine, both come up and turn on.... but the warning sound dings all the time, even when the engine is on!!! I drove 45 minutes the other night with that annoying dinging going on the whole time. Anyone know what might cause this weird problem? Thanks..

 

The warning module is blown, or it isn't getting 12v from the ignition sw run position.

 

Is everything else in the car working properly? Check all of your fuses to make sure none are blown. I'm not sure how it works on an '89, but on my 86 coupe, the warning module uses a 12v signal from the GAGES fuse to tell if the car is running.

I found it!!! It was the gauges fuse, just like ya said. Who'd a thunk? :lol: I had checked other fuses that seemed likely but they were OK. That fuse also fixed 2 other problems that I was gonna tackle later, the ABS failure indicator was on and the A/C panel was blank. Thanks for the help and quick answer.
