I posted over in wheel/tire but this forum gets more exposure. My friend told me of getting a wheel/tire balanced with weights that weren't put onthe outer edge of the rim. Can this be done? I just got new chrome wheels and if can avoid putting ugly gray weights on my rims i would like to. I looked through some pictures of different wheels that people have posted and i didn't notice the weights on any of them.
I'll add one more thing:
I will **** NEVER **** have wheels and tires balanced for a performance automobile again unless it is done on a machine that does an actual road test of the assembly like the Hunter GSP9700 Vibration Control System.
See this link: http://www.hunter.com/pub/product/balancer/index2.htm
The wheels and tires can be in perfect balance and still exhibit vibration from other sources that is not acceptable on a performance vehicle -- on a luxobarge it will work though.
Yep, just put on new chrome ZR-1's with new tires all purchased on line from aaarims. They came road force balanced and the weights were glued to the inside of the rims. I agree with Tom, that type of balancing makes a heck of diference. :iagree:
Wow luke from the tire rack also suggested i have the tires balanced on a hunter gsp whatever it is. I called about half of the "recommened installers" and some didn't even know what i was talking about and th rest even if they did know didn't have a machine like that.
