Question on how 1987 alternator works
Am trying to do away with the GM ECM entirely. Does the alternator have any control from the ECM? By that I notice that the alternator does not charge until a threshold is reached rpm wise. This does not appear to be a function of the charging circuit internal, as once this threshold is met, even if the rpm drops back it continues to charge.
Hoewever, a slipping belt sometimes acts the same way
Is there a way around this short of obtaining a aftermarket one wire alternator? The brackets I have on the car would not accomodate one of these.
