Could this reasonably be anything other than a clogged cat:
--On Sunday, in driving home in traffic on a rainy, muggy day, the engine idle suddenly got really rough, under load or not. If left running, the engine would ultimately stall.
--Yesterday, I drove the car again(had ditched it Sunday--did not make it home). Car was fine for over 20 minutes, and when it reached 190 deg on oil temp, poof, the engine idle got rough as before. I let it cool a little, and again as soon as it hit 190-192, it got rough. Finally, I let it cool, and applied a towel to the cats to cool them. That got me the last 5 miles and home.
Thanks for everyone who replied to my first post and this one!!

Re: Clogged cat? (sothpaw2)
I would bet it's anything but a clogged cat. You said you let the car cool, that's why you got it home the last 5 miles. A clogged converter is clogged regardless of temperature. Engine/oil temp shouldn't make one bit of difference
