As was said in another camber brace post, be careful of the coolant temp sensor on the front of the waterpump (stock). I was careful and still broke mine off... $8 at autozone...
Hey guys...I ordered mine when they first came out...and I've been so busy I have yet to install it! Now that I've got a break between my summer job and starting back to school later this month, I'm thinking about doing it. I did have two questions that might be obvious, or I might have known them in the past...but I've forgotten the answers. 1. What size bolt is the front upper control arm? and 2. To what level should this bolt be torqued when reattached? Thanks in advance!
My gm manual says 37ft/lbs. for the upper a arm bolts. I just recently took mine out (waterpump replacement) Just watch out for the fitting on the ac evaporater. That could be an expensive fix.
And take your time. It does fit, so move slowly.
I just did mine today. It wasnt too bad took longer to jack it than it did to install the brace. I recommend removing the inner wheel well cover so you can get your hands in there easier. I used the original bolt on the drivers side but had to use the supplied one on the passenger side with one shim. The bolt is a 18mm deepwell. Be careful of the coolant temp sensor on the waterpump its easy to break just be careful adn take your time its fairly simple.
Hey Guys,
Looks like I need some help here...heh heh. ;) I ordered the brace when they first came out, and I didn't get two extra bolts. I'm looking at it now and it seems that the stock bolts are going to be a bit too short...any suggestions on the size I use, and/or where to get them? I guess I'm pretty much stuck until I get those... Thanks for any suggestions!
When I got mine I didn't actually notice the extra bolts and shims, they were wrapped up in the paper. I found them like a month later, guess I didn't need them.
Got Dave's instant message...always great to talk with the people at R-D. They were gracious enough to send me the bolts asap. It's nice to know of a shop that not only produces high quality products...but also provides high quality customer service. ;) Definitely some cool folks!
Dave
BTW...I'm going to go search the forums about info on getting the belt off and then back on again. It looks like a tight fit to get it back on there...anyone have any innovative tricks? ;)
