Re: Road Test Report: eletric waterpump (bogus)
I've had the racing radiator, stat, and manual fan switch for a while.
The pump is making a big difference. It's spinning full blast while the car is sitting at a light.
A good 5 degrees cooler with the AC off.
15 degrees cooler with it on.
Haven't been racing yet, but the nice thing about the pump is being able to keep it running after you've pulled off the track.
Tips to add:
I used JB weld on the freeze plug and the old weep holes.
If you can find weather pack relays, use them.
Same goes with wire taps, that way you don't have cut and slice the wiring harness.
The harness that comes with pump isn't weather packed, so make sure you seal it up good and tight.
The HD pump fits with the thicker radiator, no problems.
I put a pad between it and the MAF, as per forum advice.
The hood still closes.
The relay and fuse fit nicely under the headlight, with the rest of the factory relays. That's also where I grounded the pump. Just make sure the headlights can rotate. I used zip-ties.

Way to go Brian. My Mez is running great. I just hope they last as long as they say it will. Anyway, it's a snap to replace. You say you found a weather pack relay. How many amps is it rated for and where did you get it?
I just finished installing one on my L98, and it's quite a bit more involved than the LT1 install. It hasn't been all that hot since the install, but my initial observations are that it might be a few degrees cooler at idle and a few degrees hotter at cruise, but man it cools down quick between rounds.

Re: Road Test Report: eletric waterpump (BrianCunningham)
Has any one ever tested the car before and after changing the termostat to a 160 degree?
how about the 1/4 mile ? or 0 to 60?..... I was told the engine runs stronger when cooler, but I was also told that the engine being cooler won't let the fuel spray dispurse properly.
Having the car running cooler makes it much more consist at the track. I have a 160 degree thermostat. One time at the track I programmed the fans to come on at 170 instead of my normal 180 and I did 3 runs back to back with the same ET and MPH down to a few hundredths of a second.
Keep in mind this is with a stick shift and I am no great driver.
