I'm interested in buying 2 pairs of AFS Black GS rims for my car. It's a 1990. However, I'm not sure what size are on now. My best guess is they're 17 x 9.5 all around. Or, did they come from factory with 17 x 9.5 in the front and 17 x 11 in the back with the 56mm offset? I think it would look better to get the wider rims in the back, but is there any real advantage to doing that?
Your 90 had 17x9.5 wheels with 56mm offset. The 90-95 ZR-1 had the 11" wheel in the rear but a different offset and a 3" wider body to accomodate the 315/35 tires installed on the wider rims.
You can use an 11" wheel in the rear if you get the "GS or Grand Sport" offset wheel. This wheel came on the 96 Grand Sport coupes and the specific offset allowd the tire and wheel to be tucked further in side the standard body width. A stock ZR-1 rear wheel and tire will stick outside of the fenderwell by at least an inch or so.
Tire selection in the 315/35 size is getting sort of slim so you will have to search a bit (try theTires and Wheels" Section). The bigger rear tires do look great!
