Default automatic shift improvement -hypertech 3 or ?

I have recently had all of the fluids changed in my 1995 coupe. I had given some thought as to installing a Transgo shift kit. It was suggested to me that I just get the Hypertech III reprogramer so I can reprogram the shift points and change my fan settings. My previous cooling issues have been resolved so I don't think I need the Hypertech. I have also heard that it is not really worth what it cost from several forum members. Has any one used the B and M Shift Plus to reprogram their shift points? I am thinking about buying one and would like any opinions based on your experiences. Thanks in advance, Paul :steering:

I am trying to get stronger shifts and hopefuly a little more performance. It is my understanding that with the Hypertech III that you can adjust the shift points and achieve this. The B and M Shift Plus is also supposed to give you stronger shift points and I would assume atleast a little more performance. Thanks, any advice would be appreciated. Paul

Paul: On my 95 LT1, I used the HT unit to re-program the firmness of the shift
I was really pleased with the results - my .02 worth

If you are talking about the switch that MAD sells that allows you to switch from stock and 2 firmness settings, I have installed this. I posted info on this a couple of times to let everyone know how well it works. Hopefully this time the info will get a lot of viewing. For $70 and less than 45 min install time it is well worth it. Setting 2 is the firmest setting. Iv'e had it for about 3 months and it is rarely off of setting 2. With the traction control off, when the trans shifts from 1st to 2nd, it will chirp 'em. I LOVE it. Not to expensive and much easier than a shift kit. I was skeptical, but figured for $70, why not. I am very pleased. Good luck with whatever decision you make. If you decided to go with it, let me know how you feel about it.

P.S. I also have a '95

I have the Transgo shift kit and it's only $100.00. I really love it. There is an amazing difference in firmness especially from 1 to 2. That's my .02.

Okay...as for the harder hitting shifts I have the Transgo kit and it hits HARD...I also have 3:73's and on the street the 1-2 shift sends me fishtailing and the 2-3 shift squeels like crazy...on a prepped track it's all good....are you wanting to raise the shift points ?...mine are at the stock setting and I have no problem going through the traps at the drag strip in 3rd gear... good luck....
