Default Long tubes for an LT-4??

I've got a 96 LT-4, added the Hot Cam and a 52mm TB. I'm going in for a new clutch and LT1 edit, should I consider doing headers/exhaust at that time?? If yes, any suggestions on a system? Lately I've been too wrapped up in mods for the Z06 to hunt forums for an exhaust that works on a LT-4!

Thanks
Ken

Hookers, Exotic Muscle, TPiS, they all work fine.

I think you have to make a choice of if you ditch the cats or not. I still haven't heard of a C4 with long tubes and cats. If no cats are okay, go with the long tubes. I kept the cats and went with the shorties which don't give you any real gains in power, but they do help eliminate some of the heat, and the look great.

You can run long tubes w/ cats if you do (or have someone do) some fab work. I used TPIS long tubes to 3" Random Tech cats to a custom 3" X-pipe. Just a bit of cutting and welding.

Random cats makes some small canister cats, they are kinda pricey but thats for all random cats.

Tom, it's not nearly as hard to use the LT and cats with a ZF6 as it is with the 4L60. I think the biggest problem is the width of the auto tranny. :steering:

Rippie makes them too
When I was looking last year, DRM said they didn't make C4 long tube headers any more. :(

I went with the ceramic TPIS headers and I'm very pleased with them. I'm also running a Corsa and no cats. It is very loud, but sounds really cool. I've gotten many, many compliments on how the car sounds.

I'd love to see some pics showing how they were installed around a ZF 6spd.

Great shots. Thanks, when I get the need for more speed, those are the way I'd go. Wish I knew about this last year. Thanks, again. :flag

What random cat would I need for LT headers?

I called them, they offer the 822701(ceramic) or 782701 (metallic), and that is it. Random claims that the metallic flows a lot better. True? Comments?

With the LTs and Random Tech cats, how loud is it inside the car? As an example can you still tolerate 6-7 hours in the car on a 400+ mile drive and be able to hold some level of "normal" conversation?

Great info on the LS1 site. We should save that info for our tech tips section.

I'm glad I clicked on this thread. I had no idea you could run LT and cats. Will that setup allow me to pass emissions?

Ok, those look like the TPIS that pulled 380 rwhp in the June Corvette Fever mag? If I'm going to do the header/exhaust I need to get parts ordered. I'm going to Speed Inc on Sept 2. This would be outragious with the underbody chambered exhaust I have now, cut down to fit the LT's and cats!! But officer what loud exhaust??
Ramrod, do you have the part # for those cats, they look great!!
