I've bought my '95 vette 3 months ago with 54,000 miles on it and have a question. It has Bilsteins on it and I think they perform very well. But never having owned a vette before, I'm wondering if I'm getting all the performance I could be getting out of the car. At how many miles/years should shocks be replaced? :steering:
modern gas shocks last a lot longer than older style shocks EVER could. As such, unless you race or something, the degredation is going to be so slow, that finding it will require a shock dyno!
however, the rule of thumb is that shocks start to weaken by 30k miles.
I would buy a cheap set of KYB's and send the bilstiens off for rebuild. I do not have info on that, but I know someone out here does.
Keep the KYB's and use them whenever you rebuild the bilstiens.
