Hypertech PP3 question

"If you take your vehicle to a dealer or mechanic for service, you must first remove the Hypertech Power Tuning and restore the stock programming. This is because diagnostic devices expect to find stock calibrations and will often overwrite the program if the latest calibration is not found in the computer memory. This will result in the loss of your Hypertec Power Tuning Data......."
Your question is more interesting since you kept stock engine tuning and only changed the fan.
I don't know if I'll ever go to a dealer again, but in addition to fans and power program, I used mine to correct for 4.10 gears. So if I reprogram mine back to stock I will have a speedo that doesn't work right, ought to really drive a GM tech crazy.
I also know my dealer wanted nothing to do with installing a 160 stat, etc. If I recall correctly they said it would effect emissions and void warranty.
You could always call Hypertech at 901-382-8888.
My advice is to put all programming back to stock and don't say anything about any changes from stock if you have an extended warranty.

I'm not crazy about going back to this particular dealer again but the repairs I referenced fall under the thirty day warranty they give to all the cars they sell so it has to be done by them. After that, I'm free to take the car to whoever I want as long as they're licensed. And you're right about the 160 T-stat, too. I said I'd pay them to install it as well as a coolant flush but they wouldn't - not OEM (of course, they installed crummy aftermarket windshield wipers that keep colliding which is one of the reasons I'm taking the car back in).
I'll call Hypertech, but I guess the best thing to do just put it back to stock to be on the safe side...
"If the Hypertech Power Tuning program is overwritten at a dealership or repair shop, the Power Programmer III will NOT restore the Power Tuning data or the original stock tuning data to your vehicle."

"The Hypertech book goes on to further caution that:
"If the Hypertech Power Tuning program is overwritten at a dealership or repair shop, the Power Programmer III will NOT restore the Power Tuning data or the original stock tuning data to your vehicle."
Well, that's the end of THAT discussion! I got a good price on the used one but I don't want to be buying another if the dealership all of a sudden gets thorough on me. Case closed, thanks Bud.
