I think I just found my answer.. If I remember correctly, it was low at around 12 volts or so.. I think I'll probably need an alternator... Is this difficult to change on your own? I never really do any repairs myself... How much is an alternator plus installation at say, PepBoys? :p
sal don't use a pep boys alt buy a ac delco reman alt it is a better alt. if you are handy with tools you can change the alt in about 20 mins tops. hope this helps.

You can DIY and save some bucks. The alt. isn't that hard to do. Had to do mine last Sunday. The only thing that complicated mine was the Camber Brace. Added about ten min. to the process. I opted for a reman. unit from Advance Auto with a lifetime replacement warranty for $112 (+ $35 core). Go ahead and replace the belt at the same time. The total for the parts (after returning the core) was $145. Estimate from Mr. Goodwrench, $345 - I don't think so.
The fan will run slower on lower volts, but not slow enough for you to notice. You need to look for the vacuum doors opening correctly or measure the fan motor voltage on high. Clean debris out of the heater core.
It looks like the 'Vette alt is much easier than the Probe GT that I had before. For that alternator, you had to remove the right wheel, inner wheel liner, brake and hub assembly and the axle!!. I looked the project over and gave up before I started. Had to pay $350 to have it done.
