I replaced 7 of 8 spark plugs with Bosch +4 plugs this evening! :hurray: :hurray: :hurray:
I say 7 of 8 because I couldn't get to the one furthest back on the passenger's side and was getting my hands beat up from all the tight spots so I gave up for the night.
It looks as if that spark plug would be more accessible from underneath the car instead of from above. Oh yeah, I've also got LPE headers which kind of complicates things even more by leaving less room to work with when it comes to the spark plugs.
My question is "what is the best angle of attack for that spark plug?" Am I correct in my assumption that I should jack the car up and try to remove it from below or is there some other trick?"
For #8 I just use a spark plug socket and an open end wrench to turn it. I don't have aftermarket headers though.
:iagree:
I ended up buying a socket just for that plug! Uses a 5/8 wrench on the drive end. It's the easiest way I've found to tighten # 8. I don't have headers on mine either so it might not be long enough.
With your headers, you might try taking off the wheel well panel, just a few bolts, and you should be able to slip a universal on a long extention to the #8 plug. Works on my 92 with Hooker Shorties. Another angle might be to take the starter off, just two bolts and two wires (don't forget to disconnect the battery).
