Default 4L80E Transmission

I was thinking of installing a 4L80E trans in my vette. Anybody ever done this? How hard would it be? What other parts would I need to do this?

The "E" in 4L80E is for electronic... you will need some kinda ecu to control the tranny.

I have no idea how well that would work.

There are a few of us that have done it, not that big of a deal, just a lot of work. I had to have a new custom extension housing , and driveshaft made. I used a Speed Pro controller, I beleive they a called FAST now. It worked really, really well. I will do it again when this 700R4 burns down. One of the others I have seen was done with a welded bracket, looked pretty slick. I think you could do a search and maybe find it.

Bob86zz4 installed a TH400 with GV overdrive, almost the same thing.

You would probably need to make a modification to the bellhousing, then fabricate a torque arm and driveshaft. It will be stronger than a 700r4.

Try running a search.
