i am gauging interest in a 4L80E conversion kit, basicly it would be a kit that would include the hard part(tailshaft mounting bracket) along with instructions on modifying a dana 44 C-beam to fit, driveshaft would be optional...ive heard talk in the past but is there anybody serious that would be interested? if i get enuff interest i will go ahead with the first lot...........

Rick, I don't know if there are enough serious power pushing people in that league to make manufacturing worth it. But hell go for it. :D

I for one would be interested but of course the cost and what parts were included would be a major factor in how well they sell, I think you would have a real good selling product if the VALUE of the kit was good!

Sorry - I need a short course. Wasn't the 4L80E used in truck applications - the one with a HUGE, HEAVY torque converter? Is this tranny preferable to the 4L60E?

Again, sorry - I'm not too familiar with the electronic trannies - but will appreciate any info...

Well i would certainly like to know what all has to be done to put the 4L80 in the C4, but theres no way i'll be in the market for a conversion for a couple years.

ELEVENS, the 4L80E is an updated version of the TH400 with an OD added on, its much stronger than the 700r4/4L60 and has preferable gear ratios for racing.

I definately would be in the market. I just posted a thread about this very same discussion a couple of days ago. Depending on cost, would determine on how fast I would act on a deal. There are still some issues that I would need to know. How would I get the Transmissions ECM to comunicate with my cars ECM? Obviously I just couldn't plug the ECMs together. Is there an aftermarket ECM that will? This is the exact set up I want to run, but it seems there needs to be some sort of set instructions that would make this a lot easier. Perhaps if there was some kind of kit, it would alieviate a lot of these issues.
