AIR Pump repair - Australia

'Brisbane Hydraulic Sleeving Services' PH: 07 32571400
They've repaired vette air pumps before.
They can either replace bearings, put a kit thru or if the pump was stuffed, (Or if you want it gutted) they could make it freewheeling which would bypass making a pulley up.
Hope this helps others here in 'OZ'
Cheers,
Steve Mack :lol:

Just back from seeing Andy at 'Brisbane Hydraulic Sleeving Services';
quoted AU$150 for a full rebuild incl bearing replacement.
I'll either get him to do it next week or I'll make up a bracket using a pully from Marty (Marty's auto parts Ph: 07 33725455).
Didn't leave it there as I want to drive to Hervey bay and he seems to think it'll hold out if I put a few capfulls of oil into the outlet and spin the pulley backwards to work it in; should quiet it down for a while.
Apparently the front bearing removal involves heating the case as bearing is glued in (GLUE!!!) :smash:
The price is certainly right (Same as he charges C'vet QLD) but after reading so much stuff on the forum about removing the air system, I'm inclined to go that way (But keeping alt bracket as (Sorry guys) I actually LIKE the look of it
:rolleyes:

By doing as I said in another post here, yes - the pump quietened down for a while but after about 80miles it sounded worse than ever AND the oil mist that came out of hole at rear of pump goes all over engine on plenum etc and I suspect also on manifold (Read also that oil mist plus very hot things aren't recommended) No dramas with mine BUT thought I would advises anyone that in retrospect, if you ARE planning to keep air pump in situ; spend the $$$ and get it fixed, then you'll have peace of mind and won't waste precious driving time stuffing about on temporary repairs.
:yesnod:
