Clinking from rear, U joints?
I'm getting a light metallic "clinking" from the rear of car when starting forward or making a slow tight turn, also a louder clunk or crack when reversing to a stop, then forward. Does this sound like U joints or should I check out some other suspension or rear diff. things, before I replace the U's.
Car has 98k and from what I can tell still the original joints.

On my 1st Vette, an 88, it was the "C" clip holding the spline inside the differential. It was gone. The only way I found it was checking for bushing play - pulled the wheel N/S and E/W. Hope it's not that. Good luck!

When my '88 made those noises I pulled the right rear wheel and found that the outer U-joint was loose (worn). Replacing both those half-shaft U-joints cured the problem.
Pull the wheel and check it out; if the rotor moves and the half-shaft at the differential housing doesn't move, the U-joing(s) are bad.

On mine, a clicking/clunking sound was the U-joints on one halfshaft and driveshaft.
