The best bet is the FlowKooler water pump. Can cool much better. It beats all the others, like stuart. etc. http://www.flowkooler.com

I replaced my water pump today and spent the largest portion of that time cleaning and straightening the fins on the condensor and radiator. As I wasn't having significant cooling issues I opted for the new pump from AZ, not the FlowCooler. Cleaning and straightening and shop vacking resulted in a 9* drop in engine temps around town in 96* heat... Who knew the folks at Kirby Vacuum Cleaners designed the front air inlet on the C4? I was amazed at the trash...leaves, feathers, cigarette butt, celophane candy wrappers... From now on I'm swerving to miss visible trash when safe to do so!
Took the oppurtunity to remove the air diverter and switching valves in the process...got a bead on the air pump next!
Who knew the timing chain cover was chrome on an 85 or is that an aftermarket piece installed by one of many previous owners?
