Until today, no mods was fine...
Wifey can run the gears, but doesn't have to in this car. So, we took my bone stock '95 Vert. to go get the Z, which was @ 200 miles each way. So, on the ride home we were running 75 - 100ish. She's feathering the throttle in the Z, I'm DOWNSHIFTING the LT1!
So, now I need mods. I don't expect to kill the Z, but can't be dusted like this! :smash:
I'm not the type to send an 8 y.o. motor to Ling. nor to I want to change out the cam. Will long-tubes w/ high-flow-cats, a new MAF and other computer tricks put me in a better place? Against my Wife! :conehead
I still need some advice here
Seriously though you're looking for a bunch to hang tough with one. My car makes about 390hp and 450 ft/lb and Z06s pull me by about 4-5 cars going from 50-150mph.
I think you'd definitely looking for heads/cam/longtubes to get there. :)

Seriously, youll need ported heads, cam, and exhaust to get up to that level.

Might see ya there! :)

To work over the LT1, I would consider forced induction... supercharger. But to be honest, you will have to go inside the motor to add the required 100 hp... and 100 lbs of torque.
Cam, rollers, heads, shorties (they don't add much for power, but they do lower weight).
Other options, I would add a hurst or b&m shifter, and do something with the clutch... the dual mass flywheel weighs a TON and robs you of power. consider beam plates, too.

The Z's are lighter, better gearing, more aerodynamic, can hold a gear longer.
She's quick on the top end, but suffers at the strip right now.

last sunday nite I ran a late model RX7... I was not impressed. He tried to nail me off the light, I took off gently, and nailed it at about 10mph, and by the time I got moving, he had a 2 car length lead... by the time HE shut down I was on his back bumper and gaining FAST!
Anybody who has 50g's for a Z06 then hand the keys to a woman, hell, you don't need this forum or anyone's advice. Just call Paxton and NOS and drive everything over to your local speed shop and say, "Call me when it's ready". Don't forget the 315/35/17 Kumho race rubber. You'll need it.
Wish I had your concerns,
FWIW,
BIG JIM

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- :iagree: :yesnod: :lolg: :lolg:
Start with...
1.) 4.10 gears
2.) Better Air Intake (The BPP works well, but Mid-America makes one too.)
3.) Hooker Long Tubes plumbed into the factory piping. Take off the cats, replace the resonator with a Dual In/Dual Out Dynomax Ultra Flow, then replace the mufflers with straight pipes.
With those 3 mods, it'll put you slightly closer to that Z06. If you wanna be keeping up with it ENTIRELY and POSSIBLY passing it...
4.) LT4 HotCam
5.) Ported Cylinder Heads with Port-Matched Intake
