Originally I had REALLY loud flowmasters on the truck. I think they were double chambers. It was REALLY loud and the low end torque was less. After 15000 miles, I couldn't take it anymore. I went to the muffler shop and they suggest the hooker aeros.
For a nominal fee, they pulled off the flowmasters and installed the hookers. The sound was less - still loud - but the low end torque was back up.

So, I liked them alot. Less noise than the flowmaster twin chamber, and better velocity for low end torque. No noticible difference on the top end between the two brands.
I went back to the shop after getting a different truck, they were under new management. They guy said that they don't do the hookers anymore because the inlet collers kept breaking. They were tired of doing warranty repairs so they refused to carry them anymore. I have no evidence that this is true, but I thought I'd pass it on.
As a side note, I have the flowmaster twin chamber mufflers on my 92 LT1. Not a cat back system - just a muffler replacement. The resonator is still in place so the sound is smooth and slightly powerful - not abnoxious.:steering:
I have em on my 91. Seems as though they would be alot easier install on a LT1 since the, corvette version with tips, have an offset like the LT1 exhuast. THe corvette ones do come with "elbows for the LT1 and L98 cars.
As for the collar, this is the heaviest thickest metal that I have seen. I can't imagine anything ever happening to em'.

Re: Hooker Aero Chamber mufflers.. (ZD1)
Thanks for the input, guys. I'm going to pick up a pair.
I cut the ugly (in my opinion, mind you) stock, square black tips off the stock mufflers on my Corvette several weeks ago to install some stainless oval tips.
Surprise, surprise, surprise; the exhaust is 3" all the way back to the muffler (LT4), then it necks down....the muffler outlet ID is barely 2". That's right: two inches. Time to break out the Sawzall and the MillerMatic again.
Thanks one more time, you forum members rock.
ZD1, where did you find the Hooker in Corvette version??
