Default header and x pipe questions

I am getting ready to get Hooker LT and I'm not sure which ones I need. I'm going to eliminate the air pump hoses so I don't want the emission crap hook up on the top of the headers. Where can I get the block off plate for the back of the intake manifold? What header bolts and gaskets should I get? Where do you guys locate your x-pipe...where the stock resonator is or right after your headers? I've decided on Hooker LT's because I can get them pretty spankin cheap and I don't want the ceramic coated ones because I've got a friend that paid the extra money for them just to have the ceramic flake off. And finally the last question: should I pay for someone else to put them on or do it myself? Thanks for the help guys.

Im getting ready to buy some hooker LT's also. Most people i have seen put the x pipe where the resonator is currently, since they are designed to be the same size. I posted a thread on here the other day about long tube headers, and some of the guys made reccomendations on the right gaskets. here is the thread, i hope i helps a little: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=627851

I used TPIS longtubes, but whatever header you buy I definately think you should reconsider not getting coated headers. A quality coating will not only reduce under-hood temperatures, but will also extend the service life of your headers. As for the x-pipe, pull out that old boat ancohor of a resignator and put the x-pipe in its place in the tunnel. I was very happy with the quality of Earls gaskets. Good luck. :chevy

I've only heard good things about hooker headers, but you can always get the coated somewhere esle.

Thanks for the help guys. Do any of you know the part # for hooker long tubes on an LT4? I've heard 2149, 2151, and 2061. I also was thinking about heat wrap instead of the ceramic, but I'm afraid rust would then be a problem.
