I recently was at the nearest 1/4 mile drag strip, which is an hour and a half drive away, and after a couple runs the best quarter mile time i could come up with was a 13.9, although 13.8 was in the car(missed a gear and ran 14.08). I was just curious if my 60ft time could be to blame for such high times. I was running consistent low 2.1's. The car's all stock and just was curious what a good 60 ft time would be on these lt1's
All depends on your tires. Get some DRs. With Nitto Drag Radials at 16 psi, My best 60 ft. is a 1.89 with a 3000+ rpm clutch drop, but I think there is definitely room for improvement. (L98 4+3, 2.88 1st with 3.07 gears).
DRs alone, were worth 4/10s reduction in ET from 13.7 to 13.3.
Haven't been to the track yet with the 3.73s, hoping for 1.80 now, with a softer launch (less rpm).
I was consistently in the 1.9's, with an occasional 1.89 on the stock Goodyear GS-C's. Of course my car is an automatic, which is much easier to launch without excessive wheelspin.
One more thing with DRs: You should plan on a new clutch, as well.
:iagree:
In my 6 speed, completely stock on Michelin Pilot tires, I got a 1.93 60'.
Same car with BFG Drag Radilas, 1.91 thanks to a slipping clutch from sticky tires.
My '93 automatic with 2.59 gears went 1.95 on the same Michelin Pilot tires on the car above(the actual tires from that car)
With drag radials,3.45 gears and a 2800 stall torque converter and a faulty ignition, I got 1.71 in the 60'
Remember every car and driver is different, your results may vary.
