Default Found 2 problems tonite

First problem - Finally able to go WOT for a couple hundred yards. When I hit about 4,ooo RPM, the engine felt like it was cutting out and the battery light came on.???? Couldn't get on it again for a while, however sitting a wifeys bosses house, noticed the eng. temp climbed to 240*. Turned on the A/C and temp went down to 200* or so. Got the chance to go WOT again and the same batt. light came on about 4,000 rpm and the engine cut out. Kept the engine cool until I got home, let idle in the garage and the main fan did not come on. WTF? The temp sensor is new. Any ideas on either problem?
Thanks in Advance for the input.

fan relay maybe still doesnot answer your batt question what does your voltage reading say when light goes on.your relay could be bad or fan could be drawing too many amps because fan motor is bad.Just a thought

Talking to a friend/autoparts guy (he has an 85) about the battery light coming on at 4,000 + rpm and the engine cutting out. He suggested that there might be a rev limiter on my 91. Since his is vette is older, he also suggested I check with the forum to see what's up. Is it possible?
Thanks for the help

WOT = Wide Open Throttle

He suggested that there might be a rev limiter on my 91.
Nope. Well there is... but its set at like 10,900 RPM from the factory. They basically knew the TPI would be a rev limiter and never bothered to set it. His 85 would be the same way.

Have you tested your alternator? You can go to places like pepboys or autozone and they'll test it for free.

Will take alternator up tomorrow night for testing. Now, where do I find the fan relay and how best to check it?

Talked to a guy tonight that builds both drag and stock cars (I bowl with him). His immediate response re: the battery light was that the belt tensioner might be giving up at high rpm's and the alternator was slipping. Is this a possibility?Will still have the alt. checked tomorrow, but I am still looking for more input.
Thanks
