Default fan switch

I just got my Fan Switch and Harness from MAD,, Has anyone installed this on a 1990 ? My car has 2 fans and the 2 relays are on the side of the radiator.
First question ,,, the harness from MAD has 2 wires coming off of it from the switch,, does one wire go to each relay? Am I making this harder than what it is?
Thanks for your help

On my 90 I tapped into the blue wire with the white stripe on the relay closest to the nose of the car. I then ran that wire through the firewall to an illuminated rocker switch (to the load terminal on the switch) Then I took the negative side of the switch to a ground. To light the switch I tapped into the 12 volts that powers the cig lighter. I have the switch mounted in the arm rest console. It's hidden but it takes a little effort to get to it.

On my '88 the Grn/Wht wire is the control line to each fan relay.

In that case just wire the switch wires to those relay wires and the other switch wires go to ground.

Then, when you turn the switch On the relays inputs are grounded and the fans will come on; when the switch is Off the relays will be controlled by the ECM, as usual.

The 90 doesn't seem to have the green/white wire. It's either blue with a black stripe or blue with a white stripe...can't be exactly sure without looking. I found the ground with a volt meter while jumping the aldl.

I just did this exact fan temperature switch upgrade to my 92. Be very carefull getting that plug out, I almost stripped the square hole out before I got it to break loose. I had to make my own square tool to fit it. I ran into the same problem you've got, nobody I found had anything that would fit, its a 5/16" square hole.

I made mine out of a 1/2" impact socket (Ground it down) adapter because it is much stronger. I first tried useing just an old 3/8" extension, which might work if your plug isn't seized in there like mine was. Mine was so tight it would just twist the 3/8" tip.

Mine was located between cyclinder 1 and 3 so I also took the upper panel off just above the shock for better access with a long extension.

As for your relays I wired the temp switch into both of my relays, so both fans come on at 200* and off at 185*.

On mine the wires were blue w/white stripe for the Primary fan and green w/white stripe for the secondary fan.

I can take photos if you need them.

Hey dude,

Look under "TOOLS"....... then "Tech Tips"........ then "C4"...... click!
There are probably two or three sections in there that can help you. But since you didnt specify whitch fan switch you got I cant show you which one. :smash:

Well she's running cooler now! I found a friend of mine who just happen to have the tool to take that plug out, It is made by Snap On . It came out nice and easy, I installed the new switch then ran the Harness to the two relays, it almost seemed too simple. I also added a 160 degree stat and a K+N filter. Now I cant wait to take it to the track and see what difference it makes.

Thanks to all that replied to this and helped me through this !
