fuel pump?
drove the car yesterday about 40 miles, stopped to get a bite of lunch came out and it started and stopped, started and stopped, started ran very rough couldn't get it over 1200rpm and then stopped. had it towed home. turned the key on a few times later and didn't hear the fuel pump. figured it was the pump. tonite went out turne dhte key on the pump came on the sengine started and ran fine ????? any ideas? coulod it be the pump telling me it's about ready to die?

If you turn the car off you have to wait 10 seconds to turn the key again before the FP will prime the system. If you turn the key on/off/on/off/on with less than 10 seconds between cycles it won't re-prime.

It might be that time. Could also be something like an oxygen sensor failing or losing its ground. You might want to invest in a fuel pressure gauge for about $25 that will help you greatly in diagnosing the problem.
