Awhile back Canfield was tooling up to build some Gen2 heads but I don't know whether John ever did or not... Canfield builds some great heads, after building a lot of roundy-round motors with them I decided to use a set of my Vette (std. SBC based). I've got a set of the 220cc castings with the offset valves (.150") and a monstrous amount of porting to the tune of 238cc's. I spent two straight weeks on the flow bench and porting bench and these sucka's FLOW! I was impressed out of the box, though; with a really crappy bowl (they weren't blended after the valvejob where the cutter plunged) they flow almost 290 cfm peak... I've got a set of 195's too that I'm going to put on the wife's car eventually. Good heads, actually better than most AFR's I've flowed.

I've seen the Canfiled LT1 style heads for sale used. I think they made them for a little while and then stopped. You could always call Canfield directly and see what they've got to say
The LT1 heads are awesome indeed. The LT4 heads can be ported to flow the same if not better as well. The canfields just allow for huge cc volume because of the design and it fools people by the huge cfm numbers. Most people dont need those big volumes unless you are going to go huge as in 396+, supercharged or very high rpm. Someone posted a chart of headflow somewhere here.....i found it.......... http://www.fierolt1.com/lt1_lt4_headflow.htm
Besides knowing a few owners with canfield heads and seeing the results myself at the shoppe, the chart basically shows how well the LT4 flows, or outflows in most cases. My advice is to have the LT4 heads ported to match what kind of engine combination you are building. everything from ci size to rpm range and compression will have an effect on what size of valve and port volume you will need. Most people just buy AFR- or any other brand of ported heads -from the book and they perform half as well as they should. Just remember bigger isnt better.
