Ok guys this is lame. My car has been running swell all summer, except for a leaking brake booster. So I decide to change it a couple of weeks ago, cuz’ I had nothing better to do. That's all I did to the car but ever since, it has been having troubles shifting. As soon as I got the booster buttoned up I took it for a test drive…
Shifts 1-2 at about 10mph (normal)
Shifts 2-3 at about 35mph (normal)
Shifts 3-4 at about 38mph (WTF???)
Shifts into (I guess) overdrive at about 40mph. (Double WTF???)
Also, after driving around for awhile it doesn’t always downshift back to 1 or 2.
I adjusted the TV cable after having the problem but it doesn’t solve the problem. Also while driving on the highway it “chuggles” if I’m on any kind of incline (up or down).
Is this just coincidence after changing the booster or could it be some kind of vacuum issue. The old booster was definitely leaking. I don’t get it, I didn’t touch anything else on the car except for the booster.
The tranny had a complete rebuild about 15,000 miles ago, the fluid looks and smells good and it is at the correct level.
I don’t get it. Any help is always appreciated guys.
I was thinking about pulling the new booster and putting the old one back in to start the troubleshooting. I just hate to do that, y'all know what a PITA it is to swap the thing.
What speed did the 3-4 shift occur at before the R&R of the booster? If you go by the service manual, I believe the speeds you posted are within spec. I keep it in 3rd around town, and only pop it in OD when I'm on the highway.
It's weird, if I'm driving around town in OD it shifts like above but at about 38 mph it shifts again, and it's too soon so the rpms drop to about 1200 and it bogs. If I gun it, it will downshift, but it's a pain. I'm not sure what speed it would shift to 4 before, I just know it was a smooth power band all the way through the gears.
I've been driving around in 3rd lately to compensate for the OD problem, but after driving for awhile it won't downshift when I come to a stop, so it's like I'm starting out in 3rd. It will downshift if I nail the gas...lol
When it "chuggles" it's like the TC is locking and unlocking in rapid succession.

Well, neither of these symptoms sounds good. When you had the tranny R&R, did they replace the TC with a new one? Maybe the TC has gone south. My knowledge of auto transmissions is lacking.
Re: My latest WTF??? problem. (neverendingproject)
Mine has done the same thing. I have had my TV cable all the way back(towards windshield) and it seemed to never want to shift into OD. I pulled it out according to the adjustment guide and then it did what you are describing. I pushed it back a couple clicks and now it seems fine.
