I think I need some advice. I have a 95 LT1 6M that I bought in Jan 03. It has a little over 74K on it and I'm the 3rd owner. What I don't know is if Mobil 1 was always used in the past. I bought this Vette from a dealer and he changed the oil, but I don't know what was used. I've driven it about 2500 miles and it hasn't burned a drop and if there are any leaks, they never make it to the garage floor.
I don't know if it has Mobil 1 in it now (can you tell?) The oil has gotten darker in color, but it looks good. Do I go ahead and put in the Mobil 1 oil and filter and pray for no leaks? Or assume it's dino oil and keep it that way?
Yours came with Mobil1 from the factory. Couldn't tell you how to check to see what's in there now. For peace of mind, I would change it now to mobil1. Your car didn't come equipped with an oil cooler like the l98's did. That's why GM spec'd out mobil1 as the factory fill, it is more resistant to high temps than dino.
I would opt to make certain that the factory recommended oil is used in your C4. Mobil makes the claim that engines last in excess of 200,000 miles when Mobil 1 is used in an engine. I tend to believe that claim; my '87 had 155,000 miles on it when I traded up and that L98 ran strong and used very little oil between changes. Mobil 1 costs more, but who am I to question the people that designed and know the engine?
