I don't think any of the aftermarket shifters available will work with the vette, without a LOT of fabrication. I believe most will sit very high on the console. Not sure though as I haven't really looked into this.

Why??? I race weekly (weakly, too) and have no problem with the stock shifter. Slamming the **** on a ratchet shifter won't make the trans change gears any faster. Good luck, and...

LOOKS...thats why.....sure it won't make you faster or let you shift faster but I think just WAY too many people have the stock shifter and I would like something a little different. Just my opinion....
I've yet to see anyone who's done a knock out job of installing an aftermarket shifter in a C4 auto.
I'm going to attempt to modify a B&M Hammer shifter to fit my console in the near future. I'm determined to make it look like stock equipment. If I succeed I'll post my methods & pics.

Oh yeah, I saw recently in their catalog they have a Hammer for the console. If you make it work please email me! I would love a different look!

I'm stock. Here are a couple of pics from other forum guys who have installed B&Ms and Hurst. A search will find the threads. In the 1st set of pics the shifter looks huge and the bottom single pic is just a bad install.
The BEST looking aftermarket shifter I've seen in an auto C4...was in ***** Shield's 91 Shinoda ZR1. That right, I said auto ZR1. This guy is so into drag racing, that he went down and had the ZF6 swapped out and a MEAN 700R4 with a 5000 stall converter put in it's place. I didn't have the camera with me at the time I seen it, but lemme tell ya. That hammer shifter looks like it BELONGS there! But I gurantee, something like that is NOT cheap.
