Cause I noticed the brakes were a bit on the long side this morning. Checked the fluid and the rear reseviour was EMPTY. Now I just checked this maybe a week ago. it was full. I checked the front calipers....no oil. Pulled the rear wheels....no oil. Where the heck did it go. I did notice what looked like an oilyrun coming from the back of the MC but it was pretty dry. Any ideas. Could it have leaked into the booster?

Yes it COULD have. Why not pull the MC off the booster and check the seal on the rear of the MC?
I don't think brake fluid will evaporate, at least not that quickly. Also, look in the drivers side storage compartment and check if fluid is leaking out of the ABS module.

I always forget to check for year of the car when I reply :banghead:
Have you pulled the MC to check the seal, it takes like 3 minutes to loosen the nuts and swing it out. Might save you a $100, but cause more frustration if that's not the problem.
Re: Does Brake Fluid Evaporate??????? (Southern Comfort)
I have replaced my master brake cylinder (was leaking) but I too have noticed a bit of a drop in the fluid level. Is it bad to add fluid to resevoir if it drops? Or leave it alone if it isn't too low.
Re: Does Brake Fluid Evaporate??????? (Southern Comfort)
Well, lets check the basics first. Pull the wheels and check the calipers thoroughly. Make sure you check the bleeder valves to make sure that they are tight. Check the flex hose from the caliper to the hard line. see if it may be leaking from there.
If all is well, check the condition of the pads. Calipers have resevoir behind the pistons that hold brake fluid. If the pads are worn, that means the piston is further out of its bore, thus increasing the size of the resevoir.

Ok...I just pulled the MC and there was some oil behind it in the well. I remember I adjusted the PB rod about a month ago. could it be that I adjusted out too much? would this cause the MC to leak if there was constant pressure from the rod?

I think your brakes would have dragged severly before you could have damaged the seal. When I replaced my booster, it took me a couple tries to get the pushrod length set to my liking. The first time I put it back together ~3miles down the road, the brakes were cooking. Sounds like a bad MC rear seal.
Re: Does Brake Fluid Evaporate??????? (Southern Comfort)
If you don't change it, the brake fluid will eat the front seal on the booster and you'll be replacing that in time also. If only a little fluid has gotten on the booster seal you should be ok. Just make sure you clean the front seal on the booster with some brake cleaner ASAP.
