Is a BOV needed on a supercharged car? The blower can only make so much boost, dependent upon the pulley sizes and RPM's. I would guess as long as those are calculated and within spec, a blow off valve would never really have anything to blow off. Or if the rating of the blow off valve was lower than the maximum boost from the blower, it would open every time you reached a certain rpm.
True. You just don't want to have all your boost back up against impeller when you shut off throttle closing the tb plates. I think it is a little more detrimental to turbos when this happens especially since alot of the modified ones have more boost built up than most s/c's. I am very sure Black Bart would be a better judge on superchargers using BOV's than me.
I wouldn't think you'd need one b/c superchargers don't spin freely like turbos...they are belt driven. Let off the throttle, it stops spinning right?
Supercharger generally use what it call is a surge valve. It is almost the same as a bov. Yes you can use bov with sc. Supercharge never stop spinning even you let off the gas paddle because it is not spin freely as turbo where required echaust gas to drive it. Where sc are belt driven.
