Default Smart Electric Water Pump

For those who use a Meziere Electric Water Pump, would it be possible to design and wire a circuit that would automaticallly keep the water pump and electric fans on after you shut down the engine?

Im thinking of a circuit that would activate if water temp was over 210 or so, and would stay on until the engine cooled to 210, or 5 minutes max. (Several references say that the engine will cool 7 degrees per minute if the water is circulated after the engine is off.)

This would significantly lessen the problems of heat soak in 100 degree weather, and would prolong engine life. Battery capacity should not be an issue if the circuit is set for a max time.

Anybody got any ideas how this could be done?

I run the Meziere HD coolant pump. I also, installed two switches in the cockpit that allow me to run the primary and secondary fans with the key on, along with the pump. My son has a cooling system in his Camaro (electric fans) that does what I think you are looking for. He has the fans on a temp controlled rheostat, but no max time. It is the way his electric fans were designed to run and they work just fine. His Red top Optima battery does a fine job. Like you, I think I would like to be able to run the pump and maybe one fan to a shutoff temp or max time. Hopefully, one of our EEs will come up with something. I've seen circuits for warning lights and buzzers if the pump fails, but nothing yet for automatic shut off. BTW, like your Mez?

I don't yet have the Meziere. I have a dying GM pump and a hot engine in Texas. I'm trying to sort out all the issues surrounding the Meziere pump (RD CamberBrace, Relays, Warning Lights, Do I leave the water pump drive in place, etc) before I do the install.

I appreciate any and all advice.

I see you have a 95 LT-1. I wrote an article for the Tech Tips on installing a Meziere pump. Just look under tools>tech tips>C4>Meziere Pump install. It might give you some insight into the job as I saw it. After the ordeal, I'm very satisfied with the Meziere Heavy Duty Coolant Pump. I don't understand why the General didn't go this route. Yes, there is a CB that is designed for the Mez pump. Yes, you need to install another relay for the pump. I removed the water pump driven gear which required removing the timing cover, just didn't want that shaft wobbling around on the oil seal. Warning lights, I don't have any, but if you watch your gauges, no problem. I also, installed manual switches for controlling the cooling fans, which is a nice option. If you go this route, ask yourself how's the opti and wires? It's a great time to replace them if needed. :chevy
