I'm working on an '85 and have noticed several companies listing "shorty" headers. What brands(s), part nos. are easily installed? Is the accompanying "Y" connector necessary? Thermal wrapping suggested? Thanks, Jack
Yes the shorties are easier to install. Just remove the old manifolds and put the shorties in. No fabricating. Now long tubes, that's another story. As far as power gains, shorties really don't do much, that's where the long tubes work the best. Don't wrap your headers, that shortens the life span. Coat them with a ceramic coating like Jet Hot offers. The shorties will help reduce the underhood temps and they look good.

:iagree: Jet Hot did a great job on mine. Shorties do look good, but go with the long tubes. You'll love them.
