Re: Do I trim the drip tabs for these Pro Forms valve covers? (ld85)
Mine didn't have drip tabs in them  If you run roller rockers you'll need to check the clearance of the baffles. I had to squeeze mine together some to clear mine.

Do cast aluminum after market valve covers have baffling? I haven't seen any. Also, isn't there a clearance problem with the alternator with this brand unless they've notched the valve cover to clear?

I have tall Edelbrock Sig Series cast covers on mine. The baffling that they come with includes 2 small stamped pieces of steel and 4 'twist nails'. You assemble them yourself if you want to use it.

Those look really nice! I got mine from Sallee Chev so I hope they get here by Friday!
I went with the polished perimeter mount to stay stock looking on my little 406!
I'm confused, the first pic is of a center bolt valve cover, then another post with a "peremiter mount" as you mentioned above. If your '85 has stock heads, I'm guessing by "peremiter mount" you mean not center bolt. I have a set of "peremiter bolt" ProForms on my race car and a set of "center bolt" ProForms for my aluminum head '86 that I haven't installed yet. I can tell you that I did have to grind off the drip tabs on the race car to clear the rocker arms & stud girdle. But what about the center bolt ProForms? Anyone run into problems with those?
Re: Do I trim the drip tabs for these Pro Forms valve covers? (ld85)
id85, I would say right off the top of my head that there is a big difference between the height and width of these two valve covers, and since you can run either one this might determine which is better for your application. It appears to me after seeing both many times that the peremiter bolt ProForms are taller but narrower than the center bolt. I can check measurements when I get home tonight if that would help.
Re: Do I trim the drip tabs for these Pro Forms valve covers? (ld85)
Ok here it is BIG difference -
The peremiter bolt ProForm valve covers (just like the picture you posted) measure 3 5/8" from the closest point of inside casting (with the drip tabs ground off) to where the gasket seats. The gasket you choose will give you that much more clearance. They are 3-1/2" wide inside. By comparison, the center bolt ProForms are 2-3/8" from the closest point of casting to where the gasket seats and 3 7/8" wide inside. Also, where the gasket seats looks totally different, the CB valve covers have a large continuous raised lip on each side of the gasket that the PB valve covers don't have. Hope this helps.
