No ... you will need to change the carrier. If you want to make this particular change, try to find a complete pumpkin to switch out. Run a search in the archives .... this has been discussed a lot. Also, if you're thinking of eventually having a lot of power, consider changing to a Dana 44 rather than a D36 ... much sturdier.
Also, check the parts section .... someone had a 3.07 pumpkin for sale for a pretty good price, I think. Good luck.

Just pulled the 3.07's out of my 84 and installed 3.73's and the carrier for the 3.07 set up is different then the 2.59's. They do use the same bat wing so all you realy need is the carrier and gears
