Today seemed like a beautiful day to take my 1995 coupe out for a cruise along the beach. It is the first dry and clear sunny day we have had in about a month. As luck would have it, my serpentine belt broke. I went to the closest auto parts store, Autozone, to get a belt. I had two mechanics come to install the belt and neither one could get the belt installed. I called the store and verified that we had the right belt. This was to no avail. I have checked online to see if we have the right belt and everything checks out. The last belt we installed about 3 years ago was put on in less than 10 minutes. Any help would be greatly appreciated as to the install. Also so do any of you know a specific brand of belt that I should use? Thanks in advance, Paul :banghead:
Compare it to the old belt (if you still have it), I always found it easiest to get the belt in place over all pulleys except for the alternator pulley (on a 96), then detension the tensioner (loosen it with serp belt tool) and slip the belt over the alternator pulley. I had a belt put on at a tire place and it started showing wear on the back side (wasn't a two sided belt) after a couple months, I think your best bet is from a Chevy dealer.

:iagree: As for a decent brand, I've been happy with a Goodyear Gatorback (Autozone as well)....it was about $25 I believe. Good luck, hope to hear you get it taken care of, pronto! :seeya
Make sure it's routed correctly. I spent 45 minutes trying to get a belt on they realized that I was on the wrong side of the idler pulley. Then it took about 2 minutes.
Make sure the grooved side of the belt is on grooved pulleys and flat side on flats.
Check the underhood diagram. It shows the correct belt routing. I think by 1995 all the belts were single-sided, so the pulley issue shouldn't be a problem. Early 92-93 Corvettes like mine had double-sided pulleys.
