Noises and Shakes
Noises:
When I make a slow turn to the right or left I get a higher pitched squeel type noise. Could it be as simple as grease?
When I take off and/or stop there is a "ting" noise. Even when I pull into the garage, put it in park, turn off the car, with my foot on the brake and then off the brake - "ting". Any ideas?
Shakes:
When I get up in the early 80's :D , my steering wheel shakes a lot. I don't see the front end shaking all over the place, and the shaking slows way down but is still there, into the 90's, and not noticeable in lower speeds. Any ideas?
Thanks!
Have you checked tension on you belt?
The ting? Can't even guess.
A simple problem with the shaking would be tires need balanced.
Worst case is to take your vette to a shop and have it checked. Like the front bearings, and the balljoints, and the streering gear.
Anyway tried to help you a little. Hope you don't have to spend big $$$$$$, to repair. Probably something simple.
Especially that your '84 has so low milage.
When I bought my '84, back 10 years ago, everything needed replaced, but it had 62k on it.
Good Luck.

It could be the PS system, somewhere, a squeal indicates the pump, most of the time. But it could be something with the suspension or maybe a front bearing.
To check the bearings, you need to jack the front end up and grab at 12-6 and pull in/out. If it moves, replace the bearing.
Shaking at speed is very common, that could also be bearings, but balljoints and disintegrated bushings also cause it.
The squealing noise when I turn, are definetely coming from the wheel area, and the ting noise is coming from what sounds like under the shifter almost, maybe a little more toward the front underneath the car.
