i have a 91 vette i ordered a custom chip from fast chip twice. the frist chip they burn't was no good it felt like i had no power like it was running lean the second chip i got today i put that in and i hooked up my scanner and the blm's went from 128 to 110 the chip was programmed for my new 24# injectors and my headers and so on what do i do do these guys suck? is it running rich now?
i believe your first chip with the blm at 128 was good and from your current blm values, you are running rich. from what i remember 128 is the ideal value. maybe it was in the WOT area that you were running lean, because on my car atleast (92) there is a PE table (that can be adjusted) that controls the WOT A/F ratio. i'm not sure if they have one for L98s. Since you have the scan tool, i would invest on the prom burning equipment. it will really help and would only cost the ($220 for programmer and $20 for several flash chips + tuner cat)
yes the blms were good but when i took the car for a ride it felt like i had no power like it was running lean now its running rich i grounded my self when i installed it so i didn't burn it out do you have to dissconnect the battary to clear the ecm and start new????
This is why you need to get a chip from someone local. You can't get a mail order chip and expect it to run as well as if you had someone burn a custom chip.
i have the craig moates adapter, and i never remove the battery when i put in the new chip. i just make sure the key is in the off position, before i put it in, and let the car run for several minutes (or until it goes into close loop).
it would make sense that it is running rich now. if you told them that it was lean, they would have just added more fuel. you may want to ask them if they updated the spark advanced table. maybe it is retarding more than before (which could cause the no power scenario; just my guess who knows)
